Golden State Road Trips

Malakoff State Park

First in a Series –
California, also known as the Golden State, is brimming with places to go and things to do. Also known as the Golden State due to the discovery of gold in 1829, a rich history of sometimes oddly named mining towns remains. Some have survived and are still alive with people and businesses while others have disappeared.
Fewer have become  enshrined as state parks.
Welcome to Malakoff State Park, located a forested 26 miles from Grass Valley.  While the drive from there takes 45 minutes or more, it forces you to slow down to a more relaxed pace – and a step back in time.
