Dense valley fog erased the view beyond the yard this morning, narrowing the world to what was close at hand. While fog limits visibility, it also reveals detail, drawing attention to small, easily missed moments.
Stepping outside to feed the chickens, camera in hand, familiar sights shifted into focus: dew clinging to chives, spider webs—usually dusty and nearly invisible—now outlined with moisture, and tiny droplets suspended from the tips of twigs. Across the street, a field dissolved into soft layers of gray.
Photographers are attuned to these brief conditions. Where some see fog as an obstruction, others find texture, quiet beauty, and a world that exists only while the quieting fog lingers.

Cyndy Green has been intrigued by news since she got a toy printing press as a six year old. She switched to visual story telling at the age of 12 with her first still camera and moved to broadcasting after an internship in 1974. After 28 years in broadcast news and another 8 teaching broadcasting, she still can’t live without a camera in hand and an editing computer nearby, so in retirement she continues creating visual stories.
