Delta residents well know how pesky mosquitos can be. The buzzing. The bite. The itch.

Subliminally we are all aware of the dangers and the risks of mosquito borne disease. Preparation and readiness for mosquito season should be year-round even though the active season locally is from May through October.

Below is a list of resources, by county, you can use to request information and free mosquitofish to stock your water troughs, ponds, and other standing water areas/features. These little nippers consume the mosquito larvae before they move into adulthood.

In addition to requesting delivery of the fish or making an appointment to pick them up from your local Mosquito Abatement District, residents of San Joaquin County can pick up mosquitofish and information at the outreach programs in cities/venues around the county this week.
